“It is better to have a meaningful
life and make a difference than to merely have a long life.” - Bryant H. McGill
There are many people born daily but
we remember a few people who impacted the world. They stood out from others by
carving an identity for themselves and adding value to the society. They are
the people who made a difference to the world. However, most people waste their
precious time, money and energy by blaming their circumstances and the people
around them for all their failures. It doesn’t help them in any way. On the
other hand, it presents them in a poor light in the society. I came across a
person who was 65 years old with lots of failures without any identity and
blamed his parents and society throughout his life. When he was young he was in the network of
wrong friends and wasted his precious youth without pursuing education. His
mother wanted to provide education to him despite beset with lots of financial
challenges. He did not listen to his mother and did not tow her line. He
married a woman of his choice against the wishes of his mother. He often
depended on his mother’s income throughout his life. He sold out the property
inherited from his mother. He caused a lot of agony to his mother throughout
his life. He was bedridden with lots of challenges. It was unfortunate that he
was still unrepentant without learning any lessons from life. What is the use
of leading a life without any identity and by not adding value to the society?
It is essential to carve an identity
for yourself. You must plan in the young age itself the way you want to create
an identity yourself to enable you to grow as a good citizen, and as a
successful person in this world. You must find out your passions first, and
then set your goals accordingly. Work hard towards your goals with a focus. Of
course, there will be distractions and you must manage those distractions by relentlessly
focusing on your goals. Endeavour to grow in your personal, professional and
social life. Continuously add value to yourself, your family and the people
around you. Take responsibility to lead from front. You are bound to make
mistakes during the course of your life journey. Learn lessons from them and
move forward. Take feedback constantly to improve yourself. Continue leading
your life as per your goals. In this way, you will be able to enjoy the journey
of your life; you will find yourself creating an identity for yourself; and
adding value to society. You can avoid regrets at your deathbed that you have
not wasted your precious life. Provide meaning to your life and make sure that
the world the looks up to you like a legend.

tougher to make a difference.” - Tom Brokaw
