“Hyderabad Bomb Blasts and Political Games in India” - Professor M.S.Rao

“I am proud to belong to a religion which has taught the world tolerance and universal acceptance.” – Swami Vivekananda.

The recent bomb blasts in Hyderabad indicate growing terrorism in India which is the result of the provocative statements by political leaders in India and also the handiwork of terrorists across the border. It must be condemned by all right thinking people where innocent people who were waiting to go back to their homes were killed in blasts. Was it due to intelligence failure? Media reports that the central government warned the state government about the attacks in Hyderabad well in advance. Of course, it is always tough to predict how culprits operate as they change their strategies and tactics to create terror and panic among the people to make their presence felt.

As usual, the politicians poured to the bomb site with the ruling party defending itself while the opposition parties blaming the government for inaction. It is a routine blame game and people forget this tragic event as Indians have short memory.

Currently ‘hate speeches’ by politicians has become common in India where courts take immediate action against such politicians and put them behind the bars. But politicians come out on bail and do their things as usual.  Judiciary must take stringent action against unscrupulous politicians who deliver hate speeches and create differences among the people in the name of religion, region, caste and language.

Some of the Indian politicians play several games to ensure their survival.  They do actions in such a way that they make their presence felt mostly by raising religious, regional, linguistic and caste cards. They know that this is the best way to survive in a country like India. It is for the people to spot such unscrupulous politicians and reject them in elections.

Indian politicians seldom talk about solutions. They spend a lot of time by attending the problems rather than addressing them. Even though there are some good politicians in India who have a sincere heart to make the difference to the society, the other political parties will not allow good things happen for fear of losing their votes in elections.

We need to promote universal fraternity and brotherhood championed by Swami Vivekananda. It was Swami Vivekananda who enlightened the world that India is a melting pot where people of all faiths live amicably with fraternity and brotherhood.  He traveled on foot across India to spread religious tolerance, social harmony and universal brotherhood.  We need another youth leader like Swami Vivekananda to mobilize youth and other citizens to promote universal brotherhood and fraternity and achieve economic prosperity.

“Those who really feel universal brotherhood do not talk much, but their very actions speak aloud.” – Swami Vivekananda.

“Men and Women: Their Gender Differences and Attraction Toward Opposite Sex” - Professor M.S.Rao

“A thing of beauty is a joy forever: Its loveliness increases; It will never Pass into nothingness.” ― John Keats

When male soldiers are kept away from women during their military training period they develop more curiosity and interest towards women. They often think more about women and constantly crave for women. Is it case of women as well?  Yes.  When women stay in women hostels they develop more attraction towards men and they constantly crave for men. However, women cannot exhibit openly unlike men who exhibit openly.  Men show their attention and attraction towards women by looking at them and often gazing at them while women cannot show their attention and attraction towards men due to gender and culture.

When women study in women’s educational institutions they also develop more interest towards men and crave for male attention. They may not develop emotional intelligence needed to get along with men and manage men as they don’t get opportunity to interact during their college education.  Similarly, male soldiers may not develop emotional intelligence needed to get along and manage women although they are effective in handling and leading men.

In any communication the oral language constitutes 7 percent; voice modulation 38 percent; and body language 55 percent. It is observed that women are strong in voice modulation while men are strong in body language. Women are often strong in gauging the emotions, egos and feelings of others while men are often strong in looking at others. Zsa Zsa Gabor rightly quoted, “One of my theories is that men love with their eyes; women love with their ears."

When we look at the intelligence levels, men take longer time to understand various things while women can easily understand various things. In fact, men take longer time to understand whether the other person is friendly or hostile. Researchers at Edinburgh University recently conducted a study that revealed men take longer to assess facial expression and read people’s emotions as compared to women.

Women think very deep while men cannot think deep, and men often blame that it is tough to understand women’s mind and heart.  Men are not good at understanding others’ subtle gestures while women are smart at understanding subtle gestures.

There are three types of learners such as auditory, visual and kinesthetic in the classroom. It is observed that women predominantly enjoy listening the subject while the men enjoy looking at the visuals.  There are a few learners who appreciate a blend of visual, auditory and kinesthetic.

It is observed that women are smart in multitasking while men are not. Although multitasking is not appreciated it is widely prevalent in the corporate world.  Phyllis McGinley quotes, “A lady is smarter than a gentleman, maybe; she can sew a fine seam, she can have a baby, she can use her intuition instead of her brain, but she can't fold a paper in a crowded train.”

It is essential to understand these basic differences to develop emotional intelligence towards opposite sex and create compatibility and chemistry to promote cordial relations at home and ensure productivity and performance at the workplace.
