“Is Aamir Khan’s PK Poster Culturally Acceptable to Indian Society?” - Professor M.S.Rao
Aamir Khan’s PK poster kicked up controversy across India. Nobody expected that Aamir will pose virtually nude for his upcoming flick. There are two views about it. If you take it creatively, it is a great idea. In contrast, if you take it culturally, it is not acceptable to Indian society. Aamir is not a new actor who craves for attention and publicity. He is an acclaimed actor noted for hosting an innovative TV program -‘Satyameva Jayate’. He has been honored on the cover page of prestigious TIME magazine Asia edition in September 2012. He has a huge number of followers across the world. Professionally, he is an amazing actor.
When you look at his personal life, he divorced Reena Dutta and married another woman Kiran Rao in 2005 who is much younger to him. He doesn’t have any controversies of having affairs with his co-stars which usually other actors have in the film industry. Despite divorcing his wife he enjoys name and fame which is Aamir Khan’s hallmark. He has not been noticed for wrong reasons so far. He has a great concern to help others. He is a humanitarian at heart.
Most celebrities are noted for their eccentric attitude and behavior which makes them stand out from others. At times it is the thin line that separates the good and the bad. When the positive attributes overtake the negative ones, the celebrities get good reviews. In contrast, when the negative attributes overtake the positive ones, the celebrities get bad reviews. Hence, it is the thin line one must cross to be on the positive side. I am sure Aamir Khan realizes this fact to ensure that he is respected for his good attributes like acting professionally and helping the needy personally.
I personally appreciate Aamir’s acting. Hence, I implore Aamir to avoid posing for such posters in future.
