“Exit Interviews, A Need for Revision” - Professor M.S.Rao

Exit interviews are quite common in most of the companies currently to find out the pulse of the employees who leave the organizations. It is said that employees leave bad bosses, not organizations.  Organizations are often good but it is due to some rotten employees the right talent quits the organizations and joins elsewhere.

Employees leave organizations due to various reasons such as lack of proper compensation, problem with immediate superiors or better opportunities elsewhere. In order to find out the real reasons the companies execute exit interviews to the exiting employees. It serves as a feedback to streamline the system better and check attrition. However, the present pattern needs to be revised through both open and close ended questions to analyze the real reasons for leaving the organizations.

With the changing times and technologies companies need to have innovative exit interviews. What worked in the past might not work in future as the trends have changed fast and the practices have to change accordingly.
